Genealogy of International Airlines

This international airline history print maps the formation and growth of more than 50 major airlines across the global aviation industry. The genealogy emphasizes the ten largest airlines by revenue passenger kilometers, while also showing the broader network of national carriers, regional operators, mergers, and airline groups that shaped international air travel.

Airlines represented include British Airways, Air France, China Southern Airlines, Aeroflot, KLM, Emirates, Qantas Airways, and many others. The chart shows how major carriers developed over time, how airline identities changed, and how older companies became part of the modern global airline system.

Twenty vintage airline labels frame the chart at the top and bottom, adding a second visual layer to the history. The colors and type styles are inspired by airline graphics from the 1920s and 1930s, when aviation branding began to take on the language of speed, geography, and modern travel.
